Inspired by the success of some cool vehicles like Fiat 500, Mini or VW Beetle, Renault is considering reinventing the Renault R5 model. The new Renault 5 model will not be a retro vehicle, as the company is looking for a new interpretation of the classic 1972 model.
According to British journalists from Car Magazine, Renault wants to enter the "cool vehicles market". Inspired by the success of some vehicles like Fiat 500, Mini or Volkswagen Beetle, Renault wants to reinvent the R5 model. This vehicle is going to be introduced in the Renault family, again, under the Clio model.
But, the new Renault R5 is not going to be a retro model. And it will not going to be a hot version like the GT version of the second Renault 5 generation. Renault wants to create a modern interpretation of the original 1972 R5.
This new model might join Twingo and it will refresh the Renault range of vehicles. The vehicle is going to be designed by the Renault Design Department boss, Laurens Van Der Acker and might be released on the market only in 2016. It seems that Renault Officials studied a project to reinvent the R4 model as well but the R5 was more attractive. All it remains is to wait at least the first sketches of this new model to get an idea of the design.
