Infiniti is working on a compact vehicle which will become the most affordable vehicle of the brand and it will be based on the Mercedes A-Klasse platform. We are talking about the new MFA platform from Mercedes Benz which will debut on the new A-Klasse generation in 2012 and the Infiniti version will be built at the Magna Steyr factory in Austria. Most likely Infiniti will debut in 2013 and it will be the first vehicle created through the Daimler - Nissan partnership.
According to the first information, the vehicle will be equipped with engines with four and six cylinders and diesel and otto units will be available. The new engines come from Mercedes Benz and they will be overcharged. If Infiniti manages to sell all 60,000 units they will produce, Nissan will own 10% of the global premium market.
Some of the models built by Magna Steyr is the first BMW X3 generation, the european Jeep Grand Cherokee version, Peugeot RCS, Mini Countryman and Mercedes Benz G-Klasse. G-Klasse has been in production ever since 1979. According to some sources, Magna Steyr will receive many components pre-installed by Mercedes Benz and annual production will be between 50 - 60,000 vehicles.
